National Philanthropy Day Spotlight: Matt Seubert
Throughout the month of November, the Association of Fundraising Professionals will be highlighting honorees from National Philanthropy Day chapter events around the world, showcasing outstanding donors, volunteers, corporations, foundations and others who are being recognized for their commitment to change and philanthropy.
Today we’re showcasing Matt Seubert, Outstanding Fundraising Professional, honored by the AFP Central New York Chapter.
Matt currently serves as the associate executive director of communication, development and advocacy at AccessCNY and joined the agency in 2012 as development director. AccessCNY formed in January 2016 as the result of the merger of Enable and Transitional Living Services (TLS). The organization currently serves over 3,300 individuals, providing services to those with disabilities or a mental health diagnosis.
Matt oversees all aspects of fundraising, communication and advocacy for AccessCNY, including marketing, grant writing, donor solicitations, estate planning, planned and major giving, special projects and event management.
Matt is a Central New York native, having graduated from the State University of New York (SUNY) Oswego. He has degrees in communication, focused in broadcasting and political science, with a concentration in public policy and administration. Matt started his professional career at WRVO Public Radio, a National Public Radio (NPR) affiliate. For over 15 years, he served in various positions from on-air host to assistant general manager for development. Matt helped lead the station to record amounts of listener and community support in his time with the station. In addition to his professional work, Matt serves as a board member for several community organizations, including Oswego Buc Boosters; the Children’s Center of SUNY Oswego and the Association of Fundraising Professionals Central New York Chapter, where he currently serves as treasurer.
