National Philanthropy Day Highlight: Outstanding Youth Ella Stanley
Throughout the month of November, the Association of Fundraising Professionals will be highlighting honorees from National Philanthropy Day chapter events around the world, showcasing outstanding donors, volunteers, corporations, foundations and others who are being recognized for their commitment to change and philanthropy.
Today, we’re featuring Ella Stanley, who is being honored by the AFP Connecticut, Fairfield County Chapter as their Outstanding Youth for 2019.
The chapter will be recognizing Ella Stanley of Guilford at their 2019 National Philanthropy Day Annual Awards and Conference. Ella believes that the way out of poverty is through education, which is why she is the co-organizer of the St. George Backpack Drive and has donated over 1,400 backpacks filled with supplies. For two years, Ella chaired the Youth Advisory Group with the Guilford Foundation, which awards over $10,000 in grants to different organizations in the community.
Ella also works to run food drives and spreads awareness about healthy food accessibility as president of the Action Against Hunger Club. When asked why she volunteers, she replied: "True meaning in life can only come from the impact we have on others' lives. I volunteer in order to find purpose in my life and stay motived.”
