AFP Announces All-New AFP Ontario, London and Region Chapter

At the most recent AFP board meeting, the newest AFP chapter was chartered: the AFP Ontario, London and Region Chapter.

The chapter is centered in London, Ontario, and its first president is Tracey Church, MLIS, longtime fundraiser, AFP member, and principal at Tracey Church and Associates, Research and Consulting Services.

 “We are excited to finally have an AFP chapter in the London, Ontario region,” mentioned Church. “We have many fundraisers and organizations in the region which covers seven counties in Southwestern Ontario. These fundraisers are passionate about fundraising. While many already were AFP members (for the AFP Toronto and Golden Horseshoe Chapters), this meant that any in-person professional development and networking opportunities were more than hours away! It took us nine months—with the help of AFP Global and AFP Canada—and we are happy to say we became official at the AFP Global board meeting.”

The initial process began with the creation of a chapter board and several committees, which led to the successful establishment of the chapter, bringing the total number of AFP chapters in Canada to 21.

“We believe that to have this AFP chapter is even more important during the COVID-19 crisis as we can support each other and share resources through this time,” said Church. “We have a great schedule of events lined up for 2020.”

Having successfully hosted a virtual town hall on April 1, the AFP London and Region Chapter will tentatively host a National Philanthropy Day luncheon on Nov. 12, 2020 at the London Hunt Club.

The newly established chapter boasts 55 founding members, with efforts to reach 80 members by the end of 2020.
