AFP Canada is concerned about the federal government’s proposed change to the tax treatment of donations of securities. We are calling on members to take action.

Earlier this month, we shared an AFP Canada Government Relations Update, including the government’s planned change affecting donations of securities with an Alternative Minimum Tax (AMT). We understand further that the government remains committed to making this change.

AFP Canada is concerned about the profound impact this change will have on fundraising, donations, and most importantly, those served by charities. We are calling on our members to use key messages in our submission to share your concerns with government, and to encourage others in your network to do the same.

Download a copy of our submission and share your concerns with government (Consultation-Legislation@fin.gc.ca) before Sept. 8. To learn more about the government consultation process click here.

We need your help to ensure that the government hears from as many charitable sector leaders as possible. The potential impact on our respective missions is real. It’s time to take action!
