AFP NY, Long Island Chapter Event: Ethics in Fundraising (Virtual Event)
October 19 , 2023 | 6:00 - 7:30pm EDT
October is the right time to focus on ethics because it is the beginning of the “giving season,” the last quarter of the year when most charities receive one-third to one-half of their overall yearly funds. And as racial and social injustice comes to light, it is critical that fundraisers and charities alike review their fundraising practices, ensuring that not only are they abiding by the highest ethical standards, but also demonstrating that a commitment to ethics must include a commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and access.
Join us on Thursday, October 19 from 6:00 to 7:30 PM when a panel of experienced fundraiser will discuss ethical matters in Capital Campaigns, Annual Appeals, Special Events, Grant Writing and more!
Our panelists include:
- Nadia Campbell Mitchell - Hope for Youth
- Amy Dash - North Shore Animal League America
- Jim Meyer - Planned Giving Solutions
- Sima Matthes – Long Island Alzheimer’s and Dementia Center
Moderated by our education chair Pamela Mohr, Huntington Hospital, Northwell Health Foundation
We'll look at ethics in:
- Annual Appeals
- Planned Giving
- Special Events
- and more!
Ethics makes philanthropy and fundraising possible. Without ethics, giving doesn’t happen. Fundraising doesn’t happen. Change and impact don’t happen.
AFP Chapters around the globe celebrate ethics in October - but ethics is critical all of the time for professional fundraisers and volunteers. So our goal for Ethics Awareness Month is simple: helping you live ethics out loud. Growing your ethical skills. And demonstrating your commitment to the highest ethical standards.
Join us as we do a deep dive into ethics in fundraising!
Registrants will be sent Zoom log in information a day or so before the meeting.
