fnd logo(Arlington, Va.) The AFP (Association of Fundraising Professionals) Foundation for Philanthropy and GivingTuesday will co-produce and co-brand free fundraising reports using data from AFP’s Fundraising Effectiveness Project platform.

The Fundraising Effectiveness Project (FEP) was created in 2004 to help nonprofit organizations increase giving at a faster pace by providing fundraisers with tools for tracking and evaluating their annual growth in giving. The latest data from the FEP shows that overall charitable giving dropped by 1.4 percent in 2019, while the number of new donors to charities decreased by 5.7 percent.

The new reports will provide data-backed insights on fundraising practices and trends in giving to help fundraisers and charities more effectively engage donors and supporters. The GivingTuesday Data Commons, the data and insights arm of GivingTuesday, is dedicated to primary research on giving trends and generous behavior and will coordinate the data analysis for the reports.

givingtuesday“The Fundraising Effectiveness Project already offers incredibly useful data to fundraisers through its Quarterly and Year-End Reports, along with the Fundraising Fitness Test,” said Mike Geiger, MBA, CPA, president and CEO of the AFP Foundation for Philanthropy. “Our collaboration with GivingTuesday will allow for the distribution of even more robust and dynamic information to help fundraisers meet their goals and allow their organizations to provide additional programs and services. We’re excited to be able to work with GivingTuesday.”

“Even during social and economic crisis, people are still eager to give back. Optimizing strategies to engage supporters in all forms of giving will be crucial in fostering more connection and creating positive change in our communities,” said Asha Curran, CEO of GivingTuesday. “By collaborating with the AFP Foundation for Philanthropy and with the rich data from the AFP’s Fundraising Effectiveness Project platform, we can work together to increase generous behavior and build sector resilience.”

The organizations will release more details on report topics and publication schedule in the coming weeks. The latest reports, as well as more information about the Fundraising Effectiveness Project, can be found at The Fundraising Effectiveness Project.
