Lynn Hy, 2021 Outstanding Fundraising Professional, AFP Central New York Chapter

Lynn HyLynn Hy has been with the Food Bank of Central New York since September 2010. Prior to working at the Food Bank, Lynn worked in fundraising with the Salvation Army of Syracuse.

Lynn lives up to the AFP Code of Ethical Standards and abides by the Donor Bill of Rights in all her work and daily interactions with donors, volunteers and the community. Lynn’s behaviors foster the development and growth of the fundraising professionals as she mentors the staff under her guidance at the Food Bank of Central New York. She also has had an active role in AFP for many years, stewarding the standards and responsibilities, creating opportunities for training and development of fundraising professionals in Central New York.

Since Lynn joined the Food Bank team in 2010, she has annually increased the awareness of the brand and the work of the organization in the community. This has resulted in year over year increases in fundraising efforts through direct mail, special events, foundation and grant support, as well as unsolicited support. Her vivacious and personable approach to talking and sharing the organization’s mission with all whom she meets really set her apart. This was most apparent during the onset and duration of COVID-19.

Lynn exudes joy in all that she does, and she has a genuine philanthropic spirit. She is a team player, community partner and caring community member who wants to make the greatest impact for those in need.

The AFP Central New York Chapter will host its National Philanthropy Day event on Monday, Nov. 15. Learn more about the event here
